Wippies summer is here!

More and more of us have made the move to a laptop computer – and the trend doesn’t seem to be fading. Wireless surfing has become part of our lifestyle. We carry the laptop with us to lunches, meetings – even when we’re just hanging around.

”Our customers are more and more into laptops”, says Irma Talvela from Cafe Carusel, one of the most popular seaside cafes in Helsinki. “During the last year we have seen a steady increase in people carrying computers with them.”

Carusel, situated in a yachting harbour in the idyllic Kaivopuisto area, is both a business and leisure oasis for the trendy urbans of the Finnish capital.

”People seem to be surfing as their pastime, but there are lots of those taking care of business as well. We see sharp dressed people having meetings around their laptops, and they of course are using our wireless network.”

Carusel is a Wippies hotspot.

”The feedback we get is quite neutral”, says Talvela. “As far I understand, that means the network is doing what it should. If there were problems, we’d surely hear about them!”

Thus, our hot tip of the season is to transport your desk to a cafe terrace, have a splendid cup of coffee and let the sun raise your creativity levels to new heights. It can only be good to your productivity, right?

Kotitotaali (Home Total) an immense success – tell a friend now!

”Customer feedback on Kotitotaali has been excellent”, says Jyrki Suutari of Wippies. ”People seem to be particularly enthusiastic about being able to program their TV recordings on the internet. As we know, internet goes everywhere these days. Our customers’ reaction proves that there’s great demand for this service.”

SaunaVisio, the recordable digital set-top box, and a part of Kotitotaali, allows the user to store up to 2,500 hours of TV programmes. Other alluring features of the package include the ligtning-fast broadband connection and – somewhat self-evidently – Wippies HomeBox with its wireless home network.

“Our price is extremely competitive”, attests Sami Lumpola of Wippies Finland.

“The multitude of features has proven to be a real forte. For some people the big thing is being able to back up files to the web disk. For some it’s the free phone calls.”

The price for Kotitotaali, EUR 38 per month, includes a 24/1 MB full rate broadband connection, SaunaVisio the recordable set-top box, Wippies HomeBox, Big G hard disk space and Nettipuhelin (NetPhone).

The last one meaning free phone calls to other Nettipuhelin users, all Saunalahti GSM phones and to all domestic landline phones.

Uusi New Wippies software version launched

In our previous newsletter we said that the next software version for Wippies boxes had reached beta stage. After that, some serious coding action has happened at the Wippies headquarters, with the result that the new version is out now!

Distribution has already begun and it will be completed during May.

Over 20,000 wippiees worldwide!

Wippies is increasing fast in popularity. In different countries there are now over 20,000 subscribers. In Finland and Sweden Wippies is the single most popular wireless network service. In Finland c. 12,000 individuals have been infected by the Wippies fever, and in Sweden the total is nearing 9,000. Even in Denmark, a recent addition to the Wippies country roster, over 500 enthusiasts have become wippiees!
